Stories for Fire Dogs – Opening our hearts to the Earth
This book engages with the environmental crisis – global warming in particular. It contains personal stories, accessible fact sheets on the problems and solutions to climate change, and an Earthlife Africa Cape Town petition to the South African government.
According to Chinese Astrology, 2006-2007 was the Year of the Fire Dog. Dogs represent the guardians and watchdogs of the earth.

Powering South Africa: Can Eskom come clean?

Coal-dependent electricity provider Eskom has the weight of South Africa’s carbon emissions on its shoulders. Markus Reichardt and Zara Maung report.
Internationally, 36% of the world’s electricity is generated by coal, but in South Africa and Poland the figures are 91% and 92%, respectively. For years, South Africa’s national electricity provider Eskom has pursued a policy of providing cheap, coal-powered electricity in order to support economic growth.
