All faith communities and groups are encouraged to join in the campaign focused on 10 October 2010. One suggested focus is Biodiversity, since 2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity.

Letter to Faith Leaders re Climate Change
Bishop Geoff recently wrote to faith leaders about climate change, specifically about the climate negotiations to be held here in South Africa next year and about the current discussions related to Government's Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) for electricity generation.The aim is to foster closer cooperation among faith communities with regard to climate change and to get these topics onto the agenda of every faith community. Creation care must surely be a central issue for all people of faith!

Government's Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) 2 process - an overview & why we protest
The Mail & Guardian recently published a letter from Bheki Khumalo, spokesman for the Department of Energy, under the headline: "Fair say for all in energy plan" in which Khumalo defended the 'consultation' process after criticism in an earlier article - see Eskom dominates energy plan.
SAFCEI, along with other civil society organisations, is protesting that civil society has not been given a fair hearing so far and fears that the process will be pushed though by big organisations with agendas clearly biased towards increasing the number of coal-fired and nuclear powered stations.
